Our Mission: To motivate, inspire and encourage America's healthcare professionals, trainees, students and patients to actively advocate for transformation of our nation's current predatory for-profit healthcare system into a modern universal single-payer program for the nation.

Our Vision: To create a mental health organization that demonstrates how healthcare professionals can and must move beyond talking about healthcare as a human right to actively promoting healthcare justice in our nation through our policies, programs and political participation.

Our Approach to Therapy

Our therapists are passionate about and have experience working with a diverse array of clients and issues. As a practice, we specialize in treating trauma and take a trauma-informed approached to our work with clients. However, we do NOT believe in taking a "one-size-fits-all" approach to the therapeutic process and find that an over-reliance on rigid or manualized treatments can interfere with the ability of therapists to develop a deeper understanding of and therapeutic connection with their clients that research has shown to be vital in helping clients to experience the healing, growth and change in therapy. In order to treat "the whole person," rather than just their symptoms, we strive to deeply understand their unique individual and collective experiences and identities and the role that broader social, economic, and political systems play in their everyday lives. In taking the time to gain a deeper understanding about the context of the issues and concerns our clients are facing, we are better able to "meet clients where they're at" and understand what's most important to them in life and what they want to get out of therapy. As we come to better know and understand our clients, we work with them to identify and develop goals that are relevant and meaningful to them. In order to best help our clients reach their goals, our therapists draw from relevant scientific research as well as their clinical experience and training to provide clients with the best possible treatment options available to them. Although the journey to healing, growth, and change can be difficult, or even scary, we have been there before and are there to help you each step along the way!

Owner & Clinical Director

In many ways, I think life resembles running a marathon. We don't all start off and finish the same way; however, with adequate support, preparation, and a lot of tenacity each runner has potential to ultimately meet their own personal goals and feel the rush of pride and excitement that comes with overcoming obstacles and challenges along their path toward finally crossing the finish line.

My name is Josiah Miller. I was born in Colorado and grew up in the suburbs of Denver. After high school, I spent almost three years volunteering in a diverse array of communities and capacities before finally deciding that I wanted to enroll in college to become a therapist. As a student at Metropolitan State University of Denver, I developed a passion for psychological science and graduated with my B.A. in Psychology in 2012. As a college student, running and counseling were important parts of overcoming my challenges with depression and a learning disability. After college, I moved to Chicago for graduate school and fell in love with the city and it people before earning my doctorate in clinical psychology in 2017. In 2018, I started TenaCity Psychological Services and as of October 2019, I finished my first full marathon in Chicago. In the future, I plan to use running marathons as a way to raise awareness about and fundraise for various mental health and other pro-social causes and charities that I support!
