Elizabeth Yung
PsyD Advanced Therapy Practicum Trainee
Elizabeth is a Chinese American 4th year doctoral student in clinical psychology at Midwestern University who was born and raised in Chicago. Her current research is focused on mental health literacy in Chinese immigrant and American born Chinese populations and how that impacts attitudes toward seeking mental health treatment.
Elizabeth utilizes a multi theoretical approach to therapy drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person Centered, a Trauma Focused lenses, and others. She will tailor each therapeutic experience to best fit the client's needs and wants.
She has training experience at Hartgrove Behavioral Hospital, where she conducted psychological assessments and ran group therapy with diverse populations of kids, adolescents, and adults presenting with a variety of diagnosis and clinical concerns. Additionally, she has training experience as a school counselor through United Stand Family Counseling where she worked with elementary school kids between pre-k and 8th grade. Most individuals she has had the opportunity to work with have experienced trauma and come from an underserved or oppressed communities. She has a strong desire to continue working with underserved populations and providing accessible care for all.
Elizabeth has a wide range of interests including arts and crafts, gardening, and reading. She is an advocate for women, BIPOC, and LGBTQ+ communities.
