Sloan Teeuwen, AMFT
Marriage & Family Therapist

Sloan has traveled up from the state of Texas and now has the privilege of calling Chicago home. Receiving a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Arkansas, they went on to further their education at Northern Illinois University, specializing in therapy for couples and families.

Passionate about the way individuals create identity, and how this is influenced by the society they live in, Sloan’s work is rooted in cultural sensitivity and curiosity. Taking a narrative approach allows them to understand the story a client has been telling themselves, or that others have deemed appropriate for them, and begin exploring what they want the next chapter to hold. Drawing from other therapeutic theories, such as Experiential and Bowen’s Family Systems, Sloan sees each client as a unique individual, recognizing that one size in therapy does not fit all.

As a member of the LGBTQ+ community with specialized training in supporting individuals, couples, and families within this group, Sloan’s mission is to bring affirmation, acceptance, respect, and safety into their practice.

When not at work, Sloan can be found courtside honing their pickleball skills, knitting (and re-knitting) various items, cuddling with their cat Otis, or devouring reality TV.
