Jacq Babcock, ALMFT

Jacq is a Marriage and Family Therapist who works with individuals, couples, and families.
They obtained their Master of Science degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northern
Illinois University (NIU) in 2023 and their Bachelor of Science in Human Development and
Family Sciences from NIU in 2021. They are Gottman Level 2 certified and are also certified to
provide Gender Affirming Care Letters for medical support. Prior to completing their clinical
academic work, Jacq studied at Sundust Oracle Institute (SOI) between 2012-2019. As a student
and TA at SOI, Jacq found their love for and commitment to holistic principles of healing and
creating change.
Overall, Jacq’s approach to therapy is a blend of warm empathy and insightful accountability.
They utilize a person-centered, strengths-based approach that aims to inspire others to create
change from a place of empowerment. Jacq incorporates a variety of modalities depending on the
needs of whomever they are working with. Some of the approaches they regularly utilize are
Attachment Theory, Experiential and Somatic approaches, and Feminist Systemic approaches.
Jacq also loves to incorporate Symbolic approaches such as dream analysis, art activities, and
utilizing the archetypes within tarot decks to help understand and uncover different aspects of
ourselves that may otherwise be left unconscious. Jacq often supports folx who have ADHD, are
Autistic, have experienced trauma and/or attachment wounds, and who are a part of the
LGBTQ+ community.
In their free time, Jacq is inevitably finding a fantasy world full of really cool dragons and other
mythical creatures to explore, expanding their knowledge of Tarot, being immersed in nature,
writing, or enjoying spending time with their family and friends.
