Sloan Teeuwen, AMFT
Marriage & Family Therapist

PF Pic.HEIC

Sloan specializes in working with couples, families, and individuals seeking greater satisfaction in their relationships with others and themselves. Originally from Texas, Sloan earned their B.A.  in Psychology from the University of Arkansas (woo pig!) in 2021. They went on to pursue specialized training in couples and family therapy at Northern Illinois University, graduating in 2023 with the goal of becoming a certified sex therapist. Sloan is Gottman Level 2-certified and trained in premarital counseling through Prepare & Enrich. During graduate school, their passion for sex therapy and sex education continued to deepen.

At the heart of Sloan’s approach is a warm, empathetic, and collaborative experience that supports clients in living more authentic and empowered lives. They view therapy as anything but one-size-fits-all and work closely with each client to tailor an approach that meets their unique needs. Grounded in feminist and queer lenses, Sloan takes a holistic approach to therapy, utilizing experiential and humanistic approaches. They recognize that healing and growth happen across  emotional, cognitive, physical, and creative domains. In addition to traditional talk therapy, they  often incorporate or encourage expressive and embodied practices such as art-making,  movement, dance, and music. These approaches can help clients access and process emotions in  ways that words alone sometimes cannot, while also fostering creativity, self-expression, and  deeper connection to the body.

When not at work, Sloan can often be found at “The Lab”—their affectionate name for their desk  at home—engaging in crafts and art-making, playing pickleball, or exploring new practices to  support spiritual fulfillment.
